Primm Valley Lakes Course is a part of the Primm Valley Golf Club

Many players have become quite familiar with Primm Valley Golf Club over the years, as this facility provides two top-notch, Tom Fazio designed courses that can only be described as "fantastic." Golf Digest ranked the Lakes Course at Primm Valley in the Top 10 when it opened in 1997, and the course currently sits at #43 on Golf Magazine's "Top 100 You Can Play." Not too far behind the original, Golf Magazine also ranked the Desert Course in the Top 100 shortly after its opening.

Primm Valley Golf Club is actually located just over the state line in California. The scoop is that Tom Fazio was asked by hotel mogul Steve Wynn to not open another course in the state of Nevada once construction was completed on the world-famous Shadow Creek course (designed by Fazio). The Wynn group no longer owns Shadow Creek, and Fazio is once again working in Las Vegas on a course redesign at the site of the old Desert Inn Golf Club.

For those who don't mind making the 45-minute drive to Primm Valley Golf Club, we can assure you that the trip is well worth it. The setting is pristine and far removed from the noise of Las Vegas, and the views of the surrounding valley are absolutely stunning. As the names represent (Lakes and Desert), it is easy to determine the style of golf associated with each course. The Lakes course provides players with generous fairways that slope towards the middle to make it more playable than some, however the amount of bunkering and water that comes into play on approach shots keeps the greens well guarded. The course is challenging, but not overly difficult, and should be accessible for players of all abilities.

The Desert Course at Primm Valley Golf Club is more geared towards providing a fantastic, challenging round of golf for better players. As the name indicates, one will have to contend with desert surroundings and ravines that cut through the well-manicured turf on this side of the facility. The Desert Course is long and narrow in many places, and requires players to maintain consistency and accuracy throughout the round in order to score well.

Primm Valley Golf Club is the perfect location for those warriors who want to sneak in 36 holesof golf in one day. If you plan to make the drive Primm Valley, you might as well make a day of it and experience two of the best courses available in the Las Vegas area.
