About the Course

Who says "out with the old and in with the new" is the motto for Las Vegas? The Las Vegas National Golf Club has played host to several PGA, Senior PGA, and LPGA events, as well as the site for many a high roller during its 40+ years of existence. Designed by Bert Stamps in 1961, this course still provides players with fantastic course conditions and a mature, traditional layout that has become a rarity on the Las Vegas golf scene.

Most recently, this course was the host of the Las Vegas Invitational, which became the Invensys Classic and has once again been renamed to represent its true heritage. While the course no longer hosts professional events (they are now played at the TPC golf courses), Las Vegas National has not yet lost its touch- and we feel the course is as good as ever.

If the golf course hosts professional events, you can bet the layout will be more demanding than most. In fact, the length of the course and maturity of the trees lining the fairways will force players to be very accurate and long from the tee boxes. There are few elevation changes and only minimal bunkering and water, however the greens are elevated and will require players to consider longer irons than normal on approach shots. This poses a challenge as it takes several holes to get your game in sync with the intricacies at Las Vegas National that make the course difficult (and enjoyable)!

Keep this course in mind the next time you visit Las Vegas, or play it again if you have not experienced it in quite some time. Located only 5 minutes from the strip, Las Vegas National Golf Club is a great venue providing a fun, challenging round of golf that offers a just enough of that which makes Las Vegas great.

The Sands Hotel, The Rat Pack, Glitter Gulch, and Las Vegas National Golf Club. Oh...and Tiger won his first PGA event here. LVN is one of few remaining facilities in Vegas that brings to mind Vegas' golden years. During overseed, consider Tuscany as a good alternative.
